Victoria Roberts

UX/UI & PRODUCT DESIGNER

mvictoriaroberts@gmail.com 021 85 92 92 · Dunedin, NZ in/victoria-roberts · victoriaroberts.co.nz

UX/UI & product designer with 10 years on enterprise products — research, design systems, and polished UI — for international and NZ clients including Twitch, PaperCut, and Te Tautiaki Hoiho.

A decade in technical support has taught me to hunt real pain points, and my time in front-end development has taught me to build.

Now, because I understand code, business goals, and customer psychology, I take work from discovery through launch, and bridge design and engineering without friction.

UX/UI Designer, CloudCannon 2019—NOW

Owned design across enterprise client work, the marketing site, and the template library — research through launch, working directly with stakeholders and engineers.

  • Owned design end-to-end on enterprise engagements — the PaperCut Partner Portal and PaperCut marketing site, TwitchCon, and a conservation-trust rebuild (detailed below).
  • Built and maintained design systems across 9 client and product projects; documented the Astro Component Starter in Figma.
  • Shipped two production templates (Jetstream & Venture); contributed research and design to the core app.
  • Redesigned the company marketing site and owned all asset creation; support junior designers through design critique.
Web Designer & Developer, The Fold (contract) 2016—2019

Designed and built 20+ marketing websites in WordPress for business clients across many industries — owning the full loop from client discovery to a launched, hand-coded (HTML/CSS/SCSS/JS/PHP) site.

Senior Manager, Tech Support & Provisioning 2012—2017

Five years leading tech-support and provisioning teams, capping more than a decade in customer service — front line, Subject Matter Expert, then Manager across several call centres. Thousands of conversations with frustrated users is why I design the way I do.

My largest project: PaperCut's global partner portal, designed solo from the ground up and now used daily by their authorised partners for sales enablement, training, certification, and product resources. I ran the research, aligned stakeholders, set the roadmap, and designed the collateral library, order forms, and sales databases at its core. I built the portal's design system on PaperCut's own product foundations, so it stayed true to their wider brand.

Monthly portal visits rose from ~15k to 18.2k after launch (Heap), and partners gave direct, unprompted feedback on how much easier it is to use.

PROCESS — 8 partner interviews across 3 markets (marketing, sales, support roles) → 3 personas → journey maps for 2 core scenarios → IA + flows → prototype → 3 rounds of usability testing → design system → dev handoff.

  • Research → roadmap → launch
  • 25+ editors across 5 teams
  • +21% monthly visits
With the new Portal, our teams are empowered to make the changes we need. It's a game-changer, and it feels like a breath of fresh air. Lisa Cole Miller, Global Channel Activation Team Lead, PaperCut

CloudCannon's first complete template on the Astro Component Starter — UX, UI, and design system, handed to engineering in under three weeks. Now the template new users start with, and the clearest showcase of the product's visual editor.

  • Sole designer
  • Under 3 weeks to handoff
  • 260+ leads → 13 customers

Twitch came to us for basic wireframes; I grew it into a full UX engagement. I designed the flow from hero to ticket purchase, a filterable mobile schedule for on-site attendees, and a reusable component system editors update without a developer — accessibility led throughout, with headings as real HTML text rather than baked into video.

  • Scope grown from brief
  • 10–12 stakeholders
  • Accessibility-led
What impressed me most was how Vic navigated our complex stakeholder group of 10-12 people. Cayvon Morady, Senior Technical Program Manager, Twitch

Design and visual direction for a conservation trust's rebuild, shifting the brand from penguin blue-and-yellow to greens and earth tones. Designed with development running in parallel to hit a primetime TV deadline — and built for the editing experience as much as the visitor's, so the trust's own staff could publish without a developer.

  • Lead designer
  • Under 1 month, design to launch
  • Editor-first components
Having a platform where we can update and manage the website ourselves, without needing to go through an agency for every change, has been a big part of that independence. Anna Campbell, General Manager, Te Tautiaki Hoiho
